This photo is by Gregory Crewdson. Crewdson's Photographs are often of neighborhood life USA. He grew up in Park Slope Brooklyn in the 1960's His photographs will walk the line of naturalism and surrealism and are recognizable by their elaborate lighting schemes setting a stage for his work. Loneliness seems to be a consistent theme in his work. His characters often seem to be having a pessimistic moment of self-reflection. Honesty also pervades throughout his work, which I love along with the utilization of dramatic lighting that reflects an almost Arthur Miller meets Salvador Dali meets David Mamet aesthetic.
